Beth “Marnie” Moon, 82, passed away peacefully at home, Tuesday, April 3, 2018, after a brief and courageous bout with cancer. Born in Sampson County, North Carolina, Beth was the daughter of the late Fannie Jane Blackman and John Robert Warren, Sr.
A beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, most of the immediate family affectionately called her “Marnie” She was retired owner/operator of Moon Services Heating and Air, Newport News. Beth was a Past-Worthy Matron of the Warwick Chapter Order of Eastern Star, Newport News. In her pastime, Beth enjoyed the Golden Girls Exercise Club and was an avid Bingo player.
Beth had one request, that her health would allow her to go to Grand Central Station, New York City. It didn’t happen just like that. However, her family arranged for her to go proxy, visiting all the “sights of the city”, even to the top of the Empire State Building. It was video taped and gifted to Beth by Steve Moon.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her son, Frank Meeker and his wife, Sue; and “her” grandchildren, Lisa Garlock (Rick) and Gregory Meeker (Casey), and great-grandchildren, Amanda, Wendy, Summer and Dylan; a very special step-son, Steve Moon and his wife, Michelle, with an additional step-daughter, and three step-sons; three sisters and two brothers and a host of extended family and friends, all who will sorely miss her. A special thank you to Tonya Jones and the “Golden Girls” for their love and support.
Family and friends will gather 2-4 pm, Sunday, April 8, 2018, in Colonial Funeral Home, Carrollton, for visitation. A graveside funeral service is planned 11am, Monday, April 9, in Peninsula Memorial Park, Newport News.
