Obituary for Clifford "Cliff" Ross
Clifford “Cliff” Charles Ross, 68, passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at home and surrounded by his family. Born in Germany, Cliff was the son of the late Hugh Leonard and
Thea Ross. He was formerly of Hampton and had lived in Carrollton for 35 years.
A self-employed carpenter and had been an employee of Causey Construction. He could make anything out of a piece of wood. In earlier years, Cliff was an artist and displayed his paintings in local art galleries. He was an avid gardener, built greenhouses, and created water gardens.
Cliff will be remember for his love for family and faith in God. He shared his faith and ministered through the local prison ministries. He will especially be remembered for his sense of humor and quick wit. He was a passionate fisherman and avid RedSkins fan.
A beloved husband, father, and grandfather, and brother, Cliff leaves to cherish his memory his wife Linda J. Ross; son, Joshua C. Ross (Tracy L.) and granddaughter, Madison; his sister, Marty LaLand; and brothers, Henry Klein (Mary Bess) and William Ross (Tam); and a host of extended family and friends, all who will dearly miss him. In addition to his parents, Cliff is preceded in death by a sister, Millie Hill; brother, Peter Poth and nephew, Ronnie Chrickenburger.
A service celebrating Cliff’s life will be held 2:00 pm, Sunday, November 5, in Colonial Funeral Home, with Pastor Doug Hall officiating. The family will visit with friends following the service. Burial will take place at a later date .
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Cliff’s name to the American Cancer Society, 4416 Expressway Drive, VA Beach, VA 23452 or to the charity of one’s choice.
