Condolences

Condolence From: Charlie Wayland
Condolence: Dear family, I had the ultimate pleasure of serving on cursillo teams with my brother, Gene, and our prayerful times spent together and times remembered, moments shared in the peace we found in the presence of our Lord. His spiritual leadership was fondly received by so many of us. Please know that our thoughts, prayers, and love are with each of you.

Condolence From: Bobby and Sissy Kilpatrick
Condolence: Donna and Family, So sorry we missed the service. Gene and I met on October 20, 1966, the day we were inducted into the US Army. For the next few months while going through basic training at Fort Bragg, NC Gene became my friend,(wonder why). Genes serial number was either one before or one after mine which meant that every time we lined up, we were beside each other. He made my time standing in line a lot more bearable. We went to different training but our mothers kept up with us. We did not go to Viet Nam together but were there at the same time. I will never forget the day I got a letter from home telling me that Gene had been seriously injured. We got a chance to see each other in 2005 when Donna was helping Sissy with some home decorations. It was great to see him again. Gene will always be remembered by me as the funny guy that used to stand in line with me. Bobby

Condolence From: Steve and Melissa Oliver
Condolence: Gene had a remarkable ability to reach across generations and grow people through example, kindheartedness, dedication, and concern. He has improved so many lives in such meaningful ways. He taught us to enjoy each other, get things done, improve our community, keep a sense of humor, and never make excuses. I have no doubt that those around him now are enjoying his spirit, compassion, entertainment, and kind soul as we have. Please know that we are thinking of you.

Condolence: What a beautiful tribute to a wonderful man. Although I did not personally know him, I felt like I knew him a little bit through amazing stories that his daughter, Amanda shared. My condolences, prayers and love to your family.

Condolence From: Lisa Cherry & Entire Cherry Family
Condolence: Sincerest condolences are sent from our family to the Entire Lowery Family. Gene was such a pleasure to see and get to know at the workplace. Personally he was more than a workmate he helped me and my family with some things that would not have been possible had he not assisted. I will always remember his humor but most of all kindness and putting others needs first. If any of us were down Gene could bring us up in a blink of an eye. Thanks for being there Gene!!
