Lillian Bell Brickhouse Lohli, 81, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2015, after a brief illness. Born in Kilkenny, NC. Lillian was the daughter of the late Lafayette and Janie Dodge Brickhouse. She had lived in Hampton most of her life, and retired in Smithfield, Isle of Wight Co. Lillian was a 1951 graduate of Smithfield High School and continued with her education in nursing at Thomas Nelson Community College. She was a registered nurse, first at Mary Immaculate, then Sentara Hampton General Hospital for a total combined tenure of 20 years.
In addition to her parents, Lillian is preceded in death by her first husband, Zeb V. Hunt, Jr., and second husband, Edward Lohli, a daughter, Nancy E. Hunt; two sisters, Emma Cahoon and Mabell Berry; two brothers, Wilma and Leslie Brickhouse, Sr.
She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Angela D. Nystrom (Shawn), Donna L. Harlow (Teddy) and Kristina Williams (Larry); her son, Nathaniel Lohli (Heather); her sister, Pearl Furlough; grandchildren, Sara Stevenson, Morgan LeManski, Jennifer Siegel, Michelle Taylor, Michael Enslen, Holly Enslen, and Elizabeth Stallings; five great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; a host of nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.
Lillian will be remembered for her love and devotion to family. She had a “big heart” for anyone in need and was a caregiver. She was an avid gardener and had a myriad of pets from exotic birds to cats and dogs.
A service celebrating Lillian’s life will be held 1:00 pm, Sunday, September 27, 2015 at Colonial Funeral Home, with Rev. Fr. Leslie Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow in St. Luke’s Memorial Park. Family and friends will gather 6-7:30 pm, Saturday, September 26, in the funeral home for visitation.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Children’s Hospital of the Kings Daughters, 601 Children’s Lane, Norfolk, VA 23507.
