Obituary for Myrtle Mae Thompson Latimer

Carrollton, VA
Myrtle Mae Thompson Latimer, 76, passed away at home on Wednesday, April 29, 2015. Born in Surry, VA, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Thompson and Sadie Logan Thompson. Myrtle is also preceded in death by her husband, Cleveland J. Latimer, two sons, Richard “Bubba” Garland Latimer and Darryl J. Latimer.

Myrtle was a retired Nurse Assistant from Riverside Convalescent Center after 30 years of service. She was a simple, loving and giving person. Myrtle lived her life for her children and grandchildren and she was the bonding force that held her family together.

She leaves to cherish her memories her children; Debra Boyd (David), Rita F. Greiner (CJ), Sherry L. Terry (Bill), C. Dennis Latimer (Tina), Travis B. Latimer (Wanda) and David A. “Cricket” Latimer (Angie); grandchildren, Lauren Bridges, Courtney Latimer, Kacy Latimer, MacKenzie Terry, Joey Marade, Steven Bowman, Blake Latimer, Richie Latimer, Jr. and Austin Greiner and great grandchild, Adriel Hiles.

Family and friends will gather for visitation 6:30-8:00pm, Friday, May 1, 2015 in Smithfield Baptist Church. A service celebrating Myrtle’s life will be held 11:00am, Saturday, May 2, 2015 in Smithfield Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Latimer Family Cemetery in Carrollton, VA.
